Turn research data into clear scientific figures
A third-party open-source skill by K-Dense Inc. for making and checking scientific figures with Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly.
What can it do?
Provide a data table and figure goal; the local agent helps produce figure files, plotting code, and a record of data handling.
You provide
- CSV or other tabular data, column meanings, units, and sample or replicate identifiers.
- The figure question, desired file formats and size; provide the exact journal and submission stage if relevant.
You receive
- Static figures such as PDF, SVG, or PNG; interactive HTML when requested and supported by the chosen plotting library.
- Plotting scripts plus notes on missing data, transformations, uncertainty, and export settings.
Documentation reviewed: 2026-10-19. Installation and the complete workflow have not been tested end to end by AimatraLab.
Prepare your project
Open your own project in Codex or Claude Code, with permission to read and write files and run commands. An ordinary web chat may not be able to install a Skill.
- Codex or Claude Code with permission to read and write project files and run local commands. A chat page without file tools cannot install this skill.
- Python 3.11+ and uv for the upstream pinned examples; check the plotting and image libraries needed for your task.
- Plotly static export with Kaleido v1 also needs compatible Chrome or Chromium.
These requests run in your assistant's host environment. This page provides guidance; it does not run AI tasks or collect your project files.
Ask to install
Copy this request into your project conversation. Ask the assistant to review the original Skill and explain any required setup before using it.
Installation request
I am using Codex or Claude Code with filesystem and shell tools. Please install Scientific Visualization from https://github.com/K-Dense-AI/scientific-agent-skills at commit 593377bb048752abb0152deab9fbb1083a6087df, using skills/scientific-visualization. Read its SKILL.md and retrieve the complete skill with all referenced support files, including references, scripts, and assets when present; do not copy only SKILL.md. Preserve the original LICENSE.md and author attribution. Install it in the current project's skill directory supported by this host, following the project's existing configuration and without overwriting an existing skill. Check and explain required dependencies before making environment changes. Tell me where it was installed and how to invoke it in this host. Then wait for me to provide my files and task before running the workflow.
You can also select the request text above and copy it manually.
Try your first task
Once installation is confirmed, replace the example paths and details with your own files, then send this request in the same project.
First-use request
Use the installed scientific-visualization skill on my data/results.csv. First inspect the CSV and ask me to confirm column meanings, units, and independent samples. Plot the requested group comparison with raw observations and clearly defined uncertainty. Preserve the original CSV, explain missing values and every transformation, and save plotting code plus PDF and PNG figures to a new output folder. If I name a journal, check its current figure rules and report any unverified requirements before export.
You can also select the request text above and copy it manually.
Review the result
- Static figures such as PDF, SVG, or PNG; interactive HTML when requested and supported by the chosen plotting library.
- Plotting scripts plus notes on missing data, transformations, uncertainty, and export settings.
Ask your assistant where each output was saved and how it was checked. Compare the result with your original inputs before you use or share it.
Questions & limits
- Source and documentation checked on 2026-10-19; complete runtime workflows have not been tested here.
- Figure exports and automated checks do not establish scientific validity, accessibility, or journal acceptance; inspect the delivered figure at its final size.
Can I upload files and run this here?
This guide does not provide online execution or file uploads. Work with the files in your own Codex or Claude Code project.
What if my assistant cannot install it?
Confirm that you are in a project conversation with file and command access. Ask the assistant to show the failed step and missing dependency, then use the pinned source below to check the instructions.
Which terms apply to this Skill and its dependencies?
See MIT in the source section below. Dependencies and fonts have their own licences; services and data may have separate terms, access requirements or costs.
