Make browser slides from your talk notes

A third-party open-source skill by Zara Zhang (@zarazhangrui) for creating animated HTML presentations from an outline, Markdown, or an existing PowerPoint.

What can it do?

Provide a talk outline, choose a visual direction, and receive an editable HTML deck that opens in a browser.

You provide

  • Markdown notes or an outline, the audience, talk length, language, and desired slide count.
  • Your figures, images, branding, and the visual style you select from previews.

You receive

  • An editable HTML slide deck with inline CSS and JavaScript, plus any required local media files.
  • Visual style previews and browser presentation controls; optional PDF export with separate dependencies.

Documentation reviewed: 2026-10-19. Installation and the complete workflow have not been tested end to end by AimatraLab.

01

Prepare your project

Open your own project in Codex or Claude Code, with permission to read and write files and run commands. An ordinary web chat may not be able to install a Skill.

  • Codex or Claude Code with permission to read and write project files and run local commands. A chat page without file tools cannot install this skill.
  • A browser to view the generated HTML. Basic HTML generation does not require an npm build.
  • Optional PPTX import needs Python and python-pptx. PDF export needs Node.js, Playwright, and Bash (for example Git Bash or WSL on Windows); review extra setup before using those scripts.

These requests run in your assistant's host environment. This page provides guidance; it does not run AI tasks or collect your project files.

02

Ask to install

Copy this request into your project conversation. Ask the assistant to review the original Skill and explain any required setup before using it.

Installation request

I am using Codex or Claude Code with filesystem and shell tools. Please install Frontend Slides from https://github.com/zarazhangrui/frontend-slides at commit 9906a34d640d2111f724544cbc50f7f130569ae1, using the repository root. Read its SKILL.md and retrieve the complete skill with all referenced support files, including references, scripts, and assets when present; do not copy only SKILL.md. Preserve the original LICENSE and author attribution. Install it in the current project's skill directory supported by this host, following the project's existing configuration and without overwriting an existing skill. Check and explain required dependencies before making environment changes. Tell me where it was installed and how to invoke it in this host. Then wait for me to provide my files and task before running the workflow.

You can also select the request text above and copy it manually.

03

Try your first task

Once installation is confirmed, replace the example paths and details with your own files, then send this request in the same project.

First-use request

Use the installed frontend-slides skill to turn my talk.md Markdown notes into a 10-minute, 8-slide research talk for a general materials-science audience. Keep my factual claims and figure captions, and mark gaps instead of inventing results. Show me visual style previews first. After I choose one, create editable HTML slides with keyboard navigation and reduced-motion support, and include any local image files needed to open the deck. Deliver HTML rather than a PPTX file. Keep the Markdown source and original images unchanged.

You can also select the request text above and copy it manually.

04

Review the result

  • An editable HTML slide deck with inline CSS and JavaScript, plus any required local media files.
  • Visual style previews and browser presentation controls; optional PDF export with separate dependencies.

Ask your assistant where each output was saved and how it was checked. Compare the result with your original inputs before you use or share it.

Questions & limits

  • Source and documentation checked on 2026-10-19; complete runtime workflows have not been tested here.
  • The main output is HTML, not an editable PPTX. PDF export is a static snapshot and does not preserve animation.
  • External fonts or media need local copies for offline viewing. The upstream skill includes sharing scripts; publishing a deck is a separate user decision.
  • No semantic version is declared in the root skill metadata; this listing identifies the reviewed commit.
Can I upload files and run this here?

This guide does not provide online execution or file uploads. Work with the files in your own Codex or Claude Code project.

What if my assistant cannot install it?

Confirm that you are in a project conversation with file and command access. Ask the assistant to show the failed step and missing dependency, then use the pinned source below to check the instructions.

Which terms apply to this Skill and its dependencies?

See MIT in the source section below. Dependencies and fonts have their own licences; services and data may have separate terms, access requirements or costs.
